Discussion:

Social determinants of health topic is a big critical and essential concern in public health that needs to be educated and addressed furthermore to be aware of. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) defined the social determinants of health (SDOH) as the non-medical factors that would influence the outcomes of the health. These factors are the condition by which people are born, live, work, grow, and age in addition to wider set of systems and forces that would affect and impact the daily life. Systems and forces include political systems, economic policies, social policies, climate change, racism, and social norms (CDC, 2022).
A webinar was performed by the PTTC (Prevention Technology Transfer Center Network) in 2023 that was presented by Emily Patton and Josh Esrick, it was about the SDOH and how to manage, the Public Health Approach was determined to be the tool to work on targeting the risk factors associated with the negative impacts found within the SDOH and seeks to strengthen the protective factors. The Public Health Approach (PHA) supports addressing the SDOH by the behavioral health continuum, both physical and behavioral healthcare integration, collaboration, and community wide efforts.
The implementation of the Public Health Approach (PHA) can be done by using a framework to determine the priority problems and methods to address them, by Identifying both the stakeholders and the partners, and by the collaboration then to implement these changes to evaluate the results after.
